Real Estate Cool (Inspired by Lupe Fiasco)

March 12, 2008 | 2 Comments

I like Lupe Fiasco. In fact, his latest album, “The Cool,” is my current musical favorite. I used a clip from his song, “Superstar” as the intro to my last ZebraTalk episode. It has since become a song I listen to regularly.

One of the tracks on the album that I found interesting is the album intro. It is actually a spoken word track, a poem. It is performed by Ayesha Jaco (I can’t find any link for her). She is apparently a writer/dancer/performer from Chicago. Here she is performing a slightly different version of the album intro at a Lupe Fiasco concert appearance.

I liked what she did with the piece, and I thought I would try to adapt it to the real estate industry. I wanted to touch on a few issues that I think everyone will recognize.

So, take a minute or two, and listen to my version of “Real Estate Cool.”

The Zebra Launches a Talk Show

March 6, 2007 | 6 Comments

Last week, I posed the idea of creating ZebraCasts for the blog. I still think that is a good idea, and there has been much discussion in the RE.net about the creation of a hosting community for such podcasts. While I was kicking around ideas for ZebraCasts, I remembered something I had read about internet-based talk radio shows. Luckily for me, I had saved in my RSS reader a post about BlogTalkRadio.com. It is a site that enables people to host their very own internet-based talk show for the world to hear. It even enables listeners to call into the show live. Best of all, its FREE.

So, I am here to announce the launch of the Real Estate Zebra Internet Talk Show. Perhaps I will call it, “ZebraTalk,” for short. The premier episode of the show will be Thursday, March 29th, at 7:00PM EST. I am in the planning stages of setting up the show, and I will hopefully announce a guest in a few days. You can also be sure to check here for future posts about how you can listen to the show. It should prove to be both fun and interesting. . .

How About a ZebraCast?

February 28, 2007 | 2 Comments

I thoroughly enjoyed hosting the 31st Edition of the Carnival of Real Estate. I also enjoyed doing the podcast interview about the CoRE with David Gibbons over at Zillow. You can hear the podcast here, hosted courtesy of Mike Price of MLPodcast.

Podcasts are something I have considered doing on the Zebra. I like the format, I have the technology, and it seems like something that might serve to supplement the written posts on the blog. The biggest question I have to answer is, “is it worth the time and effort?”

So I have to ask you, dear Zebra Reader, would you listen to a ZebraCast, and if so, what would you like to hear?

Let me know, I really would like some input from readers as I consider the creation of a ZebraCast.

The Charlottesville Area Real Estate Blog now features audio podcasts!  All of the podcasts will be available in MP3 format.  You can listen to the first one here: Download PodcastIntro.mp3

My plan is to make these podcasts available on a regular basis.  In the future, the podcasts will probably be a "Week/Month in Review."  I will be able to highlight and comment further on some of the posts, and also cover things that I didn’t get a chance to cover on the blog.  The format is just as limitless as the blog itself, so let me know what you want hear about.  In the near future, the podcasts should be available for download on iTunes as well.

Be on the lookout for more podcasts!
