Thanks, Daniel, for the post. Twitter has become NOT a business stream - any business I’ve received from it has been a side benefit. The greater “good” has been the opportunity to learn from some of the brightest minds in a number of industries, to interact on a regular basis with some really creative and engaging personalities, and just befriend some really cool people. You’re one of those, and I’ve got a bunch more. Looking forward to hearing what Twitter’s doing for others.

@ Jeremy Hart - it’s only a matter of time when Twitter becomes spammy with business streams.

@Allan–
i don’t think it will. In fact, unless the folks at Twitter start selling advertising and putting it automatically into the stream, it CAN’T get spammy. That is one of the beauties of Twitter, I’m on control of all the content that I see. If one particular user gets spammy– BAM! I can block them, and not only will I never have to see them again, but they will never see me, either.
There is also the privacy option that allows you to manually approve every user who follows you, and keeps your updates out of the public stream. That helps eliminate the spam as well.
There have been discussions in the twitterverse about advertising. The general consensus seems to be that most users are willing to actually pay something for the service if that is what it takes to keep ads out of the stream.

I enjoy it. I had to unfollow Foxnews and CNN they were too much and never follow anyone, just their news streams and it was overwhelming. I like to follow Michigan sports.
I have learned a lot from the links people put in on technology.
